Antioch was the chief church
of the Gentile Christians where they are first time called Christians.
During the Roman centuries,
It was the third largest
populated city of the antiquity. Referred as golden and beautiful
Antioch, it was designed in the Hippodamic style, and was one of the
unique cities having the city lighting. After the martyrdom of Saint
Stephen, many Jerusalem Christians fled to Antioch. The first two
journeys of Paul started and ended in there.
