Located in the south of
Dardanelles, Troas is one of the cities visited by Paul during his second
and third missionary trips. During his second missionary trip, after
visiting the major cities of Central Anatolia, Paul planned to go towards
Asian Province of Roman Empire. He was prevented from doing so by the
Holy Sprit. Then he wanted to go to north towards Bythinia, but this time
he was stopped by the sprit of Christ. Paul and his companions headed for
Troas, a small coastal town of northern Aegean. Paul during his stay at
Troas, he had his famous vision. A man from Macedonian asked him to come
over and help them. After his vision Paul crossed continent Europe first
time. He went to Neapolis and Phillippi where he had his first European
Convert, Lydia. Paul came to Troas second time during the first
missionary trip after the Silversmith Riot in Ephesus. It is suggested
that he stayed there for a while to get a boat to take him to northern
Greece. After his time in Greece, instead of getting a boat from Corint
to Holly lands, Paul returned to Troas to meet his friends. During his
stay in Troas, Paul performed one of his miracles. When a young boy,
Euitices, fell from the third floor of a Roman house, he was resurrected
by Paul who said: there is still life in him. Although Paul's companions
took a ship for Assos, he preferred to walk over the mountains. It is
suggested that either he wanted to stay alone or he was afraid of a
Jewish plot against him.
