Located
in the south of Ephesus, Miletos was the queen of The Ionian cities
during its golden ages. Guided by God Apollo, Ionians founded the city of
Miletus which became one of the most important cities of the
Mediterranean Basin. Being great navigators, the people of Miletos
founded more than 90 trade colonies all over the Mediterranean world,
Marmara region and Black Sea area. Paul's visit to Miletus was during his
third missionary trip. After Troas and Assos, two ancient cities in the
south of Dardanelles, Paul and his friends sailed to Miletus where he met
the elders of Ephesian church. It was in Miletus Where Paul gave his
famous farewell speech. It was very touching scene in the lion harbour of
Miletus. They all knew that it was last time they saw Paul.
