Our tours are based on eight years
of personal experience, research and human
contact. Suleyman is from the Lycian coast
area of Turkey, near Antalya and he knows
the mountain and seaside towns and villages,
bays, islands and coasts of the
Mediterranean. He previously worked both in
a hotel and on a gulet. As a result of
frequent visits to the Mediterranean we both
know the best places to go in this little
paradise of coast between Fethiye and
Antalya, and have friends with gulets, who
do the Blue cruise.
We first lived in Eskisehir, which is an
inner Anatolian city near the ancient
Phrygian sites of Yazilikaya, Aslankaya and
Roman Temple of Aizanoi, and later in the
bustling city of Izmir near the magnificent
ancient sites of Ephesus, Pergamon, Sardes,
the Seven churches, Miletus, Priene, Didyma
and Pamukkale. Suleyman received his
official guiding license in Izmir and during
this time did a complete tour of the major
sites of tourist interest in Turkey. We
supplemented this with intensive travel
research in the vast Aegean region.
We started out officially with a tour agency
in the central region of Cappadocia, and we
also had the opportunity to discover Eastern
Turkey and the high plateau areas of
Anatolia. Our normal daily life at that time
was one of true cultural emersion because we
used to live in a cave room carved into a
hillside in the village of Goreme and our
agency was on a dusty road with villagers
and donkeys passing by.
The final
step of our Turkish Odyssey was to come to
Istanbul 5 years ago, and here we found
that there were an incredible
amount of things to discover. This caused us
to produce a line of
unusual and interesting daily
tours and in-depth private tours of
Istanbul. |
